Learn More About Competency-Based Education
What is competency-based education?
- Competency-based professional development measures learning rather than seat time. Students’ demonstrate their competence by successfully completing an assessment that aligns to the learning outcomes.
- Successful completion of the assessment means they prove that they have mastered the knowledge and skills (called competencies) required for a particular course. A competency includes skills, but also behaviors and the ability to apply those skills in order to perform a job or task.
